Rocker Redo

A couple of months ago I bought this rocker/swivel chair on CL for $20.

I had sold my previous glider because it was just a little to small for me.  This one was very comfortable and not to huge so it would still fit into a nursery.  It was however a pink shell pattern.  Yikes.  I had bought it with the intention of slipcovering it.  I purchased 6 yards of white canvas fabric.  Enter my wonderful mom.  She came to visit a couple of weeks ago and when she came I told her my goal was to have the chair slipcovered by the time she left.  She was skeptical.
There are tutorials on how to slipcover online so I will let you get directions from them seeing as my mom and I were winging it, neither one of us having made a slipcover before.  Basically you cut the pieces to fit and pin them on the chair inside out.  Let me stop here and give credit where credit is due, my mother did the majority of the work.  Thanks mom!
First we took off the old skirt.  We started on the bottom front and moved up the chair.  We cut out pieces for each section that were too big and then pinned them together on the chair inside out and cut off the excess.

Like I said my mom was the master mind behind it all.  I did however sew the seat cover and even put on my first zipper.  And I sewed the skirt around the bottom after my mom had gone home.

We also made it with a pleat down the back so it would be easier to remove and wash.  I added grommets and used yellow shoe laces to 'lace' it up.  I think it adds a little interest.

I am really happy with it.  Now I have a comfortable place to rock my baby in the wee hours of the morning.  Thanks again to my wonderful mother!
